"They (the products of the Seminaire du Saint-Esprit) consecrate themselves preferably to missionary activity both foreign and domes-tic, offering to go and stay in the poorest and most abandoned places for which it is especially difficult to find candidates. Whether it is a question of being exiled into the remote countryside or buried in the caverns of a hospital, teaching in a college, lecturing in a seminary, directing a poor community, travelling to the farthest corners of the Kingdom of France or staying there in an austere post, whether it is a question even of crossing the seas and going to the very ends of the earth to gain a soul for Christ- their motto is 'Behold, we are ready to do your will: Ecce ego, mitte me'" (Charles Besnard: Vie de Grignon de Montfort).
Qu'il faille être relégué dans le fond d'une campagne, ou enseveli dans le coin d'un hôpital, instruire dans un collège, enseigner dans un séminaire ou diriger dans une pauvre communauté, se transporter aux extrémités du royaume, ou y continuer une austère résidence, qu'il faille même traverser les mers et aller jusqu'au bout du monde pour gagner une âme à Jésus Christ, leur devise (des prêtres formés par le Séminaire du St Esprit) est: nous voilà prêts à exécuter vos volontés: ecce ego, mitte me (Is. Quer seja preciso ser afastado para longe da terra, ou ficar escondido no canto dum hospital, educar num colégio, ensinar num seminário ou dirigir uma comunidade pobre, ir para as extremidades do reino, ou manter-se numa austera residência, quer seja preciso mesmo atravessar os mares e ir até ao fim do mundo para ganhar uma alma para Jesus Cristo, a sua divisa (dos padres formados pelo Seminário do Espírito Santo) é: eis-nos prontos a cumprir a vossa vontade; ecce ego, mitte me (Is.
