Spiritans in Mexico: 1971-1996
"It is interesting to observe the approach of these first Spiritan missionaries towards the people. They welcomed the people, listened to them with respect, walked with them and, on occasions, ate with them. They organised a catechetical programme adapted to the social mentality, they enlisted catechists and gave special attention to their formation. The Spiritan charism was well exemplified by these early Spiritans; they highlighted the presence of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit among the Huastecan and Nahuatl people. Those of us who are privileged to be their successors salute them with admiration"

Il est intéressant de noter l'esprit qui animait les Pères à cette (première) étape de l'évangélisation du Mexique. Pleins d'attention pour ces communautés, ils recevaient et écoutaient les gens avec beaucoup de respect et d'attention, marchaient et mangeaient avec eux en certaines occasions, organisaient des catéchèses adaptées à leur mentalité et recrutaient beaucoup de catéchistes auxquels ils donnaient une bonne et adéquate formation tant initiale que continue. Il apparaît clairement que le charisme spiritain fut réellement vécu par ces premiers confrères dans la Huastéca, au sein de ces populations Nahuatl et Huastéca.

É interessante salientar o espírito que animava os Padres nesta (primeira) etapa da evangelização do México. Muito atentos a estas comunidades, recebiam e escutavam as pessoas com muito respeito e atenção, andavam e comiam com elas em certas ocasiões, organizavam catequeses adaptadas à sua mentalidade e recrutavam muitos catequistas aos quais davam uma boa e adequada formação tanto inicial como contínua. Era bem claro que o carisma espiritano foi realmente vivido por estes primeiros confrades em Huasteca, no seio destas populações Nahuati e Huasteca.
